Crazy Fool

We were out photographing sunrise at the Grand Canyon when a bunch of slightly insane college students showed up. They showed absolutely no fear of the edge, not even the healthy kind.

This is not any sort of a misleading photo. He really is crouched inches away from the edge of the Grand Canyon. It really is a very long way down. He really did stay there long enough for me to line up the tripod and take three shots.

Wendy was so freaked out she wouldn’t even look in this guy’s direction.

Smoke, Out

Last Saturday I was wandering around downtown snapping a few photos. Naturally I had my camera in hand. As I walked around a corner this dude struck a pose and said “Hey, you want me to model for you?”

Typically I don’t do street portraiture, but he just had so much enthusiasm I couldn’t help it. So I shot a couple of frames. He was actually pretty good at it!

Street Serenade

Last week I spotted the second most elusive kind of street musician – the harpist. Street pianists are even harder to find, though they do exist

I think this fellow was just playing to while away the time. He wasn’t in a crowded area, didn’t have out a hat for tips, and in fact seemed totally oblivious to the world. I tried to get his attention to make sure he was okay with being photographed, but his eyes were closed.

I don’t know a whole lot about harp music, but it sounded pretty good to me. Rock on harp dude!
